THE KANJI RPG YOU CAN’T PAY INTO · GRADES 1–6

Study → Coins → Play.
There’s no going back.

There is only one way to earn coins: studying kanji. Nowhere in the app can coins be bought with money. Saved coins earn “play tickets,” and play begins only once a parent approves. That’s Kanji Trial.

KANJI TRIAL CONSTITUTION · ARTICLE 1
Coins cannot be bought with cash.
Studying is what leads to items.

“Mom, can I get more Robux?”

You've paid for game passes, skins, and pets you've never seen. You don't know what your child bought, or what they got out of it. We're parents too, so we built the opposite.

What the screens actually show

Fig. 1 · Study
Asked again, right when it’s about to slip.
A review cycle matched to how memory fades (the forgetting curve), optimized for kids. Seven study modes — reading, writing, vocabulary and more — help it stick without getting boring.
Parent screen · weekly report
Fig. 2 · Watch over them
Your report card arrives, not a bill.
You can see which study earned every single coin. Using a play ticket needs your email approval, so the daily time limit you set never stretches on its own. The weekly report on the parent screen shows how hard they’ve been working.
MEXT curriculum aligned (2017)

Readings your child's grade hasn't reached won't appear.

For example, 天 is a Grade 1 kanji, but only the readings TEN and ama are taught in elementary school (AME is a high-school reading). Kanji Trial reflects not only the grade-by-grade kanji list but the staged reading allocation, exactly as published.
※ To keep your child motivated, answering with a higher-grade reading is never marked wrong.

Every reward in the collection is pure effort.

Weekly egg · see 3, pick 1
Study hard 6–7 days in a week and the rarest egg arrives on Monday. All 3 pets inside are visible, and your child picks one.

A second lesson: budgeting and tax.

The app has its own economy. How should saved coins be spent? Managing them lets kids try out how society works.

Prices change every day.
Item prices rise and fall every day with everyone’s buying and selling and the day’s news. “It’s expensive today, let’s wait for a cheap day” — kids learn to think it through themselves.
Profit is taxed.
A progressive tax (0–40%): the bigger the profit, the higher the rate. Kids understand why through experience, not explanation.
Money only ever flows one way in.
There is no cash entry point to the exchange — not from a parent's money, not from a child's. This experience stays uncontaminated by real money.

Not a single real yen ever moves.

No “buy me this.” A world with zero tricks to make kids spend.

Why we built this

Our child attends an international school in Bangkok. English kept improving, while kanji was starting to slip away. We looked for “a game that properly follows the grade-by-grade kanji list, and where nothing can be bought from a child’s screen” — and couldn’t find one anywhere. If it didn’t exist, we had to build it. That’s how Kanji Trial began.

Questions parents ask

Is there really no way to buy coins?
Yes, coins can’t be bought with cash. It isn’t a rule we enforce — the app is built so there is simply no way to buy them.
Aren't the eggs gambling (loot boxes)?
No. No money is ever paid, all three pets inside are visible before the egg opens, and your child chooses one of them. Luck never costs them anything.
Won't game time keep increasing?
No. Play tickets need your email approval, and the daily cap you set never grows. Only how many coins a ticket costs can change day to day.
Does it match school pace?
Yes. It follows the official grade-by-grade kanji list (1,026 characters) and the staged reading allocation, so readings your child's grade hasn't reached are never asked.
How much study per day?
Most days are short, review-centered sessions. Only the questions due that day are picked out, so there's no need for long hours at the desk.
What happens if we cancel Plus?
Every item earned and every study record stays, and learning continues within the free plan. Records are never taken away.

You get the report of their effort.

Nobody gets a bill they didn't expect.
